Dear Steve, Zoe and Anna Words cannot express our sadness at Marjorie’s passing. We remember her as being at the centre of so many outings, celebrations and meals we shared with the Fosters, including enjoying New Year’s Day breakfast on the balcony on 1 Jan 2022. RIP Marjorie. For my Sister. Within ten minutes of hearing the shocking news of Mar I ran out into my veg patch as veg patches were very important to Mar and I. The following is what I saw and is entirely how I felt at that time. The Air Is Stopped May rain was so gentle and sweet when it fell Then such a bright sun shone and we couldn’t tell That the World kept on turning with it’s pretty deceive! So we wouldn’t notice When She had to leave… The World looked the same as the World had before except that it wasn’t and would be no more Yes it looked pretty and yes it had paused But the Fates couldn’t imagine the Pain they had caused.. Gentlest Beloved She, among us All - so gentle Most ardently Beloved, kind, sentimental Her words to remain, so softly spoken to cradle my heart whilst it is broken… The time indeed for righteous anger I would not disturb her restful languor My tears will fall, by degree to subside Her words. Her State Of Grace -Abide I can leave you in France now My Darling Girl. Steve made everything so eminently beautiful and so perfectly ‘Mar’. I will always have your Girls in the palm of my hands. We will always remember Marjorie as a beautiful person both inside and out. She always had such a beautiful smile and an effortless elegance about her. We will always remember her as a really positive person, cheery and upbeat, so easy to chat to. I (Lindsey), remember our chats at knitting group with Lou, Rachel, Eileen, Mary and other ladies from the valley. Fond memories of coffee mornings and the annual clothes swap at Deborahs, were always a chance to catch up, and although we didn't see Marjorie regularly, we would just catch up from where we left off when we did, chatting about what Millie and Archie, Zoe and Anna were up to in their lives, as well as family life and general 'goings-on' in the valley. So sad that Marjorie is no longer with us but she will always be remembered by us in this positive and bright way. My mum and dad, Barbara and George were also really sad to hear about Marjorie and wanted to be sure that we passed on their condolences to you all. Steve, Zoe and Anna, we send you all our love xxxx

Marjorie you were a beautiful, kind and gentle soul who lit up any room with a cheeky twinkle in your eye. You will be missed by your lovely family, your wider family around the world and your many many friends. Our thoughts are with Steve, Zoe and Anna on this sad day, we can’t be with you but know that we are sending you all our love.

Marjorie was such a lovely lady, she would make an effort to come and chat and take an interest in people and their lives. So positive and always looked immaculate with perfect hair and make up and a beautiful smile. I know how proud she was of her girls because her eyes would light up when she spoke about them. She’ll be sadly missed by many . Sending love to Steve , Zoe and Anna , love Fran and Nick xxx

I am minded of two things told to me, one recently , the other long, long ago when our Dad passed: "Don't be sad about the things that might have been, just rejoice in the times you shared" and more recently "Grief is just loads of love with nowhere to go". Fiona and I plus our three - Matthew , Tom and Marcus together with Jem and Lauren have the best and fondest of memories of many happy and fun-laden times with Marjorie and those can never be erased. All the people you know over here in Halifax ( Rae, Giselle, Michael to name but three) but especially the Whiteley arm of the family Joan, Marc, Vicky, James, Summer, and Erika and a lot you don't know but who are friends via us send their condolences and very best wishes to you all. Much love Bob X

To dear Steve, Zoe and Anna. We may have moved away from our dearest neighbours, but you have always remained in our thoughts and we are glad we have managed to keep in touch via WhatsApp ever since we left. We were so lucky to have you move into Le Villard and perfectly understood your reasons for doing so. Like us, the views of the beautiful mountains around Samoens enticed you there and we are sure that those uplifting views, as well as the total love and affection that you all had for each other will have helped Marjorie through her long illness. She always seemed so accepting of her situation, never complained, and never failed to give everyone a smile when asked how she was feeling. We both loved her sense of humour which never left her. Her odd little comment often made us laugh. Both Marjorie and Steve were a shining light to Zoe and Anna and we all basked in their love for these delightful young women who came to Samoens as two little girls embarking on a new adventure. We so enjoyed watching you growing up Zoe and Anna, gaining in confidence with the help of Marjorie and Steve, and we know that you will always be there for Steve. We hope we never lose touch with you all. With much love. Isobel and Malcolm

Dear Steve, Zoe & Anna, We have so many happy memories of Marjorie. We will really miss the lovely warm greeting hug she always gave us and her sparkling eyes, sharp wit & steely determination. One of our favourite pictures is below which we love as you were always such a romantic & loving couple which this photo captures. Marjorie was also such a loving and wonderful Mum. Always there with words of encouragement and the love & pride she had for Zoe & Anna shone through at all times. We always really enjoyed Marjorie’s company whether for a coffee, glass of rosé, dinner or walking - she was such an amazing wife, mum & friend. We will miss her deeply but treasure the time we had with her and have so many very happy memories. With lots of love for you all, Simon, Carole, Scott & Chantelle.
